Okay… So, I *LOVE* CSI, and any similar TV show/book series. I’ve been a geek for that sort of thing for years- but a quote from one of the episodes I saw recently just made me cringe.
Summary: Basically, there was this expensive collection of 17th-century Japanese art (kimono, samurai armor, katana, etc.) and the guys in CSI relaized that it was fake because “Japan didn’t have an army before the 19th century” and therefore the 17th-century samurai armor couldn’t exist. WHAT THE?… Dude, I knew that samurai armor predated the 19th century when I was a middle-schooler who thought kimono were bathrobes…
CSI, you’ve let me down. :(
(I’m kind of tempted to dump this at IGF or SCA-Japan, but I think that they get enough headaches just from Chinese bathrobes being called kimono[1] and reenactors who claim to have had past lives as cross-dressing dancers.[2])
On a less depressing but likewise funny note- Misty (AKA “Basket Kitty”) has discovered the sea sponge I use for watercolors. How on earth can such a small animal toss something 5 feet into the air, at that speed, without the help of opposable thumbs? :? Cats are impressive creatures…

ALSO…
* Does anyone know if “Dr. Who” is still showing on American TV? I caught the end of some season of it on SCI-FI a few weeks ago and became an instant fan, and I’ve heard mention that it’s playing somewhere, on some channel, but I don’t know when…
